“WeRunMPLSer of the Month” is a series we write to introduce the faces that make WeRunMPLS so special. Our core is community; it was the motivation behind starting WeRunMPLS, is the foundation for every time we meet and is what guides all our decisions. Hope you enjoy!

Tell us your name + how you found out about WeRunMPLS.

Hello, I'm Seth. I found WeRunMPLS through a search on Facebook and have been running with the group for just about a year.

Where is your favorite place to run?

I love running near the Mississippi River or the lakes in MPLS. During the week I do most of my running along the river near downtown St. Paul but when I've got the time on the weekends I'll head to MPLS to run the lakes.

What’s been your favorite night of WeRunMPLS (so far!)?

Our Wild Card Week in December of last year at 612 Brewing. The weather was awful, snowing and sleeting, so only a few of us made it but we spent the entire run dodging puddles and high-stepping through the snow and laughing at how silly we must all have looked to the passing drivers. Sometimes the ugliest conditions make the greatest memories.

Tell us your top 5 interests.

  1. Music. I love listening to music, especially live music, and playing it. I grew up playing the piano and have been playing guitar since high school.

  2. Saint's baseball. My daughter and I love going to Saint's games. We go to several games every season.

  3. Reading. I only really got into reading as an adult but it's such a good way to relax.

  4. Tennis. This one is a newer interest. My daughter and I are learning the sport together and we love heading to the court on a Saturday afternoon for a match.

  5. Craft beer. When I'm not actively training you can often find me searching the cities for a beer I haven't tried or a brewery I haven't visited.

What’s your favorite thing about WeRunMPLS?

WeRunMPLS is a group that makes you feel included. From the very first time I met everyone I felt like I was meeting people who genuinely were glad I came to run with them.

Favorite running quote?

"...and the only way we can discover our potential is to test the limits, to push up and through the boundaries we set for ourselves." —Deena Kastor

One random fact everyone should know about you.

I broke the middle finger on my right hand about ten years ago and never went to a doctor to have it set. So now it doesn't bend right when I try to make a fist.

Anything we didn’t cover?

I've got a pretty full 2019 race calendar which is all leading towards my 7th marathon, but my first in eight years, Twin Cities Marathon in October.
