MEET CHAD | MARCH WERUNMPLSER
“WeRunMPLSer of the Month” is a series we write to introduce the faces that make WeRunMPLS so special. Our core is community; it was the motivation behind starting WeRunMPLS, is the foundation for every time we meet and is what guides all our decisions. Hope you enjoy!
Tell us your name + how you found out about WeRunMPLS.
Chad Menne. I found out about WeRunMPLS through the Facebook Events page (about the best thing Facebook is good for). It seemed like a very welcoming group with the “all paces welcome” and “no one runs alone” mantra, considering I am in my 40’s and had only been running for a couple months at that time and was VERY new at it.
Where is your favorite place to run?
Generally, I really like running in the city. More specifically, I travel A LOT and I really enjoy running in new places; the best being when I don’t know where I am going, or how long I am going for and I can just go left here and right there and not know where or when I will end.
What’s been your favorite night of WeRunMPLS (so far!)?
Probably the Saturday long run with brunch afterwards, although I really liked the “ugly Christmas sweater” 34 degree and rain evening run just after Christmas at 612Brew as well. Oh, and of course, my award-winning Halloween costume run! To be honest, I am really enjoying pretty much every run about the same. Such an awesome group to run with!
Tell us your top 5 interests.
Travel! I love to travel. The more obscure and far away, the better.
Running. Considering I have only been running for about 8 months now, I am totally hooked!
Watching my daughter grow up and achieve every goal she sets out to do. She is really amazing!
Fly. I am a pilot, so it’s a good thing I enjoy flying. The more challenging the flight, the better.
Racing. I’ve raced cars and motorcycles in my past, but now I just race myself.
What’s your favorite thing about WeRunMPLS?
I enjoy the motivation of running with a group, but this is a really welcoming group and the format in which the events are operated with a fun run and a social event afterwards is really special.
Favorite running quote?
Considering I am still very new to running, but have found a major new attraction to it; I feel the most in-tune with Forrest Gump… “I just felt like running”
One random fact everyone should know about you.
I hold the world’s record for the fastest flight time between Keflavik Iceland and MPLS for a light turboprop aircraft.
I plan to run at least one race every month in 2019. So far half marathon is my farthest (completed one in January and two in February), but hope to complete at least one full marathon this year. Also working on running a race in every state (6 states down in the last 4 months).
