“WeRunMPLSer of the Month” is a series we write to introduce the faces that make WeRunMPLS so special. Our core is community; it was the motivation behind starting WeRunMPLS, is the foundation for every time we meet and is what guides all our decisions. Hope you enjoy!

Tell us your name + how you found out about WeRunMPLS.

My name is Sarah Allen. After a couple years of a break from running cross country in high school and first year of college, I realized I missed being a part of a running community. Through research online, I found WeRunMpls and it seemed like a very inclusive group. And I was right!

Where is your favorite place to run?

My favorite place to run would be the lakes in Uptown. It is very beautiful and there are always so many runners there that it creates an energetic and encouraging atmosphere.

What’s been your favorite night of WeRunMPLS (so far!)?

I enjoy every Thursday at WeRunMPLS because it is a great way to de-stress before the weekend.  But I think my favorite night of WeRunMpls has been the Birthday Party. It was great to see just how many people have become involved in this group over the years. It was fun to celebrate such a great community!

Tell us your top 5 interests.

What’s your favorite thing about WeRunMPLS?

My favorite thing about WeRunMPLS is that it brings together a very diverse group of people, but we are all connected by our running goals. I think that type of connection is hard to find.

Favorite running quote?

“Running allows me to set my mind free. Nothing seems impossible. Nothing unattainable.” – Kara Goucher

One random fact everyone should know about you.

I was attacked by a bird while I was running on the Gateway Trail one summer. Ever since I’m really afraid of birds. So if you ever see me jump or flinch while I run….a bird probably came way too close to me!
